To the things I find beautiful

This is an appreciative post to some of the things that make me stop and leave me spellbound, all the things that evoked intense interest in me and everything I find beautiful.

Colours

Bright, bursting, overwhelming, gentle, calming, peaceful and ethereal are all the words I will use to describe colours. The colours everywhere is one of the things that get me drawn into my every day, in painting, in nature, in pictures and so on. And the fact that colours appear different in respect to time, like the city view at night lit up by the streetlamps and reflection on moving cars and glass creates such a surreal environment. The most amazing display of colour for me would always be sunrise or sunset. I can't count how many times I wake up so early just to see the sunrise.

Travels and Road trips

While I don't get to do this often because of schooling, I enjoy travelling by any means possible. Although I favour air travel a lot more because it is less stressful and serves as a means of avoiding the bad Nigerian roads. I love road trips; there is something about the changing landscape, the long-range view of trees, crossing a bridge with a large expanse of water underneath and the relative silence that accompanies the drive is just the most amazing feelings ever. Often times, I wonder if I have a wanderlust.

Architectural designs
I am so in love with how well thought out home designs are. I am talking designs that are well thought out in respect to the structure, the materials used to make the house, the simplicity of the designs or extravagant luxury and most importantly how the house serves the owners never fails to render me speechless. I am in love with the stories behind each the ideas and inspirations that make such beautiful designs.

Historical sites and ruins

For the sake of being such a curious cat, I am drawn to historical sites. I love to explore places where things had happened, learn the stories behind such place, the secrets they leave. There is also something amazing about structures that once stood tall and no longer stand now. The levels of excitement and fascinations are indescribable as I put my imagination to work, how I am forced to go back to learn about what happened, and it becomes a thousand time more amazing if such ruins are reclaimed by nature.

Large bodies of water

Starting from the stream that flows behind my grandfather's house which does not count as large to rivers and seas, you would agree with me that bodies of water are so amazing. I am so in love with waterfalls and their roars, the quiet beaches and the constant waves, and rivers that flow persistently during any season. I just like to sit and watch what goes on and occasionally answer the call to dip my legs in and if it is possible, I am open for a boat ride.

Animals
A cute dog and why not

Now I am not a fan of all the creeping, crawling and biting creatures, I am a big lover of animals. I am in love with them from afar or up close to the ones I can pet and adore. They just look beautiful and dogs just get a huge chunk of my heart. The cure to some of my sad days include cute animals videos and amazing dog photos.

Cultures

By this, I mean the material part of the culture of different humans; food, language, clothes, stories, music, ceremonies, myth and legends. I particularly enjoy learning something from people's culture and maybe that is why I love travelling. I just enjoy all those things and it offers me insight into the human mind and how it functions like so. With every place I visit, I hope to glance into what makes the people from around act the way they do.

So this is the end of the post. There are a lot more things that I find beautiful, but it is nice to appreciate a few of them and putting this list together has made me sit and reflect on all the things that have put a smile on my face and I am so grateful for everything.

What about you? I would love to know the things you find beautiful, you can tell me in the comment or better still send a message to theestherian@gmail.com.
Do have a beautiful week.

The Estherian
