TCS: Friendships, Relationships, And Everything In Between

Image
One of the things society has sold to us right from our childhood days; from cartoons, books to films and even special days to celebrate relationships and make the single people feel maybe inadequate has to be a relationship, the idea that everyone needs somebody. Now that we are getting older, we have begun to learn more about the world and that everybody needs someone. We are learning that there is no broad stroke to define human relationships, and there would always be different labels to relationships. Note: This conversation has been condensed and edited for clarity Today, on The Conversation Series, I am with a very wonderful human. We always argue about a lot of things but have somehow found a way to find common ground. We would be having a conversation around the topic titled; Friendships, Relationships, And Everything In Between. Welcome to the conversation series. I think we are going to start with the introductions. Can you let the readers know who you are? Hey guys. My

A Mid Year Review

Image
Source: Pinterest Cuss word alert! I hate to admit it, but you would agree with me that this year seems to go on at a very normal pace. Not too fast and not too slow, just the right balance of speed. But as a person, I don’t think I am catching on as I intended to. I am behind with the goals I set out for this year laughing out at me, and I am about to do the most stressful thing in my life right now, be accountable. I assumed you saw the cuss word alert. Don’t take that deep breath and start groaning yet, I am not holding you accountable to your goals, at least not yet, I am only trying to review the goals and plans I have for this blog since it is the sixth month here, and this is a progress report. Let me start with this. I am bringing my best foot forward, and writing about the things I have accomplished in the first half of the year before I get into the bad news or changed plans. For an idea of the aim of the blog this year, check here . And now that you have a refresher, let us

Notes To Self

Image
Hello,  How have you been these past days? When was the last time you checked in with yourself, just to see how far you have come?  I have been toying with the idea for a while now and I decided to share some of the things I think are worth noting.  Source: Pinterest To Thine Own Self, Be True . Sometime last week, (I am not sure though) I heard this line from a podcast, to thine own self be true. I am going to assume you have heard this question, and you are aware of how difficult it is to answer. The question is this, who are you? I believe there are systems put in place to answer the question, things like you are not what you do, you are not your mental state and maybe don't use adjectives to describe what you are. I am going to assume you have figured it out. The endpoint to this is to leave a good impression, be sort of interesting or just don't care. I mean, shout out to the ones who are pros in the talking stage. The thing is this, though, anytime we are asked to talk ab

Creating A Timeless Masterpiece

Hayao Miyazaki's Spirited Away. Produced By Studio Ghibli I heard of Studio Ghibli last year when I stumbled on a video essay describing how the soundtrack in all their movies sounds so nostalgic, bringing you into a world that you are certain you belong in. Looking back now, I will say that I didn't understand what this person was referring to until I saw Spirited Away. I was feeling unwell last Wednesday and I had to stay home. In an attempt to kill time and keep me distracted, I turned to YouTube and saw another video essay by SageRain. He was discussing one of the motifs from Spirited Away and I was drawn to the movie. The way the animation looks so well done that I couldn't believe that this movie was released in 2001. When I found out it was a studio Ghibli movie, I realized I had found the perfect thing to do with my time. So I went online to look for Spirited Away, directed by a genius, Hayao Miyazaki. Studio Ghibli is a Japanese animation studio that creates hand-d

May The Odds Be Ever In Your Favour

Image
Source: Pinterest (notsosmalltalk.com) It is only right that I give an apology for being MIA for most of May. It was because of issues beyond my control and a bit of oversight on my part. But the thing is, I have everything figured out at least to a certain extent. I think we need to talk about the cost of living in Nigeria and how everything seems to be so expensive, but I am not sure whether I have any reasonable thing to contribute and would only rant about how unfair all this seems and to what end is all this. But that's a story for another day. How was the month of May?  May the odds be ever in your Favour doesn't seem quite right for a check-in title (at least to me) but I choose it maybe out of nostalgia for old dystopian movies like The Hunger Games , or how May felt like all the odds were against me. I mean all the odds. One word to describe this month is overwhelming, and I am like, let's never try that again. I pulled through alright, in one piece with a lot of b
