We Are All Saving Lives.

It is not every day you get the satisfaction of completing a task you set out to complete. And sometimes, you find yourself having to let go of a task with the hope you come back to it. So, I am celebrating my second year as a blogger and writer on this blog. And it is something. The initial plan was to do a follow-up on one of the earliest posts on the blog, in search of identity, and as I said earlier, you don't always get the satisfaction of completing tasks you set out to do.

I read a post last Friday on medium as I was on my way to the hospital, and the writer stated that in our little ways, we are all saving lives. I know I am a medical student and the medical profession is all about saving human lives, even if I am more aware of the lives that we lost despite doing all we can. I started my posting in the accident and emergency unit last week, and death has become a lot more real in the past few days. The writer showed that saving lives most times aren't the big things you would expect, sometimes it is the little things like the shoemaker that fixes your sandals when they spoilt on your way to someplace important or the tailor that mends that snatched gown that ripped on your way to an owanbe. And maybe it is that writer that you look out for something new from them because they have become so relatable and somehow what they write helps you with clarity.

Now there are people whose little saved me in a big way. Just like my housemate moving in at the time she did and my friend that has become closer than a brother, who reached out to me and is helping me get used to going out again. I am so grateful for that. The people that took time off their busy schedule to check up on me, the people that fed me, gave me money and a reason to smile and my parents, saved my life. And maybe even more, they helped save me from me.

It is comforting to learn that whenever you reach out in any way you can to anyone, you have saved a life. And for the past two years, I have been doing my little to save lives through writing. It is a blessing to have a platform and to use it to help not just myself but others. Yes, I said help myself because writing is therapy for me and the more I do it the better I become. Although it can be tough to write some days and some ideas never get to be more than just ideas. I have gotten better at what I do, and I am grateful for that.

So here is to two years, and I am grateful for every reader and subscriber, y'all are the real MVPs. So let's go on to continue saving lives in our little, big ways.

With Love,
The EstherianπŸ’›
