Be Intentional

Wednesday would mark the beginning of the last half of the year 2020, and one of my reoccurring thoughts is the need to be me. I often find myself in situations and instances where I ask myself how I got there or what was my purpose in the situation.
One of the things I would be working on is being intentional about me.
So as we are trying to make the most of a somewhat annoying year, this is a reminder and an encouragement to be intentionally you.

Being intentional means doing things on purpose, deliberately or voluntarily and asking to be intentional about you is to be deliberate about yourself, to stop going with the flow, to break out from the need to conform and to see beyond how things appear to be. Now I am not trying to preach but instead, I am talking to myself foremost.

Be intentional about Life
What are the reasons for you living your life? Why that job, that course, that friend, that journey and so on. It is easy to find oneself living a life just for the sole sake of existing and a whole lot more common living for someone else. Be deliberate about your actions, it might take you sitting and drawing up plans on what you want to achieve, it might be going on to take a leap of faith and trying out something extremely different. Life can just be walking on an invisible bridge but still, you have to be intentional about it.

Be intentional about growth
It is impossible and unrewarding to remain the person you are and with each stage in life, there is a force calling for growth. The thing about growing is that it takes steps and it takes moving away from your comfort zone or what is familiar or your norms. It takes being open-minded and the willingness to learn. Growth has to be intentional and not just something one stumbles upon.

Be intentional about your relationship with others
One funny but truthful thing I saw lately is that we humans are bad at reading minds. I must say that while the whole let's see where this ends sounds exciting, it always ends nowhere. In our daily human interaction, this means we have to be forthcoming and direct about our intentions, being able to communicate, having an ability to comprehend, and becoming a better person, friend, colleague and so on.

Be intentional about Faith
Faith here means fully trusting in God. I don't want to talk about Christ my whole life but actually live my life like him. This takes more than just believing, it takes deliberately reading my bible, praying, having a personal relationship with God, it takes truly acting, being a light to others, being a good neighbour, learning to love others and being intentional about it. This is not just something that randomly happens.

Be mindful of you
You might find yourself putting your needs above others wants, you might have to exercise self-discipline and having people around to enforce such resolution. It entails learning to deny yourself some wants, celebrating life at every opportunity.

It all comes down to this, being fulfilled. It involves taking deliberate steps, having a plan or stepping out on God's plan towards a vision or goal. It is actually aiming for the goal. It means surrounding yourself with right-minded people, it takes devotion and dedication.
Sometimes you find yourself having to swim against the current, walking on water and above all, you have to be intentionally you and no one else.

Do have a beautiful week.
